Socialists unite!
Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s allies in the Democratic Socialists of America are rallying for the reinstatement of ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.
The DSA released a detailed statement demanding “the restoration of President Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores to their rightful place in Venezuela.”
In tandem, the DSA is launching a campaign titled “Hands Off Venezuela,” aimed at pushing the “imperialist” U.S. out of the resource-rich nation.
“Solidarity with the Venezuelan people! Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution!” proclaims a separate policy statement from the DSA’s International Committee.
Addressing Maduro's ousting, the DSA accuses the Trump administration of initiating “an unlawful war” against Venezuela.
“This is a blatant act of imperialism aimed at establishing a puppet regime that will enable U.S. corporations to seize Venezuela’s oil assets and impose American dominance over Latin America — essentially the new 'Trump Corollary' to the Monroe Doctrine. This conflict is illegal under both international law and U.S. protocols governing war declarations,” the left-leaning organization asserts.
